- Oklahoma does not have a great history as migratory pollinators. Our hives tend to stay closer to home so they are not exposed to as many different ecosystems as some others may be.
- Many of the CCD (Colony Collapse Disorder) problems have occurred with bees that went to California or the mid-west and then wintered in another location.
- Some healthy bees have shared foraging territory with hives that suffered from CCD yet remain unaffected.
- Some research that surfaced during 2009 was that abnormal ribosomal RNA fragments are found in the guts of honey bees from CCD hives.
